BIO

Craig Breen is one of the most experienced drivers in Rally Liepāja. Some of his notable achievements include: runner-up in the 2010 Irish asphalt rally championship, 2011 WRC Junior Academy champion and 2012 SWRC world champion – amazingly, all of this was achieved by 23 years of age.

In 2013, the talented Irish driver focused on FIA European Rally Championship, where he took part in eight events with the support of Peugeot Rally Academy. He finished second overall in the Latvian event Rally Liepāja-Ventspils, which came as a bit of a surprise since he did not expect to be so competitive in a rally he had never taken part in. Breen managed to reach the podium in five of his eight events, which was enough for third place in the overall championship standings.

Last year, Breen had high hopes for ERC season, as he remained in Peugeot Rally Academy and has received the latest masterwork of Peugeot208 T16 R5. Eventhough Breen managed to finish third again, Craig had to retire due to technical issues in six out of the nine events he took part in. In the remaining three rallies, however, Breen finished on the podium – third place in Rally Liepāja, a win in Acropolis Rally and a second place in Rallye du Var.

Breen and Peugeot Rally Academy remains connected in 2015 as the Irish plans to start in 9 events employing a 208 T16 R5 car. Though, it seems Breen started the championship on the wrong foot – a minor mistake on the very first stage of Internationale Jännerrallye led to an early retirement.
