BIO

Diogo Gago began his rally career at 19 years of age and was quick right from the beginning, finishing in the top 10 of the Portuguese Junior championship in his first year. In his second season, 2011, he managed to be even faster and reach fourth place among juniors. These first two years were spent behind the wheel of a Seat Marbella GL, but for 2012 Diogo switched to a Peugeot 206 GTi and became the runner-up in the Portuguese Junior Championship. The following year, Gago began his international career by participating in the French Volant Peugeot championship, as well as some FIA European Rally Championship rallies along with the Portuguese Rally Championship. At the end of the season, Gago managed to bring home a bronze medal in the 2WD class in Portugal and a fifth place in the Volant Peugeot championship.

For 2014, even more events were added, as Diogo also contested the Spanish Suzuki Swift Cup and the Spanish Rally Championship. Gago also got his first ERC stage win, a feat he achieved in his home event in the Azores.

Because he won the Peugeot 208 Rally Cup in France, Diogo Gago will be able to contest four ERC Junior Championship events as part of the Peugeot Rally Academy, whose driver, Stéphane Lefebvre, became the ERC Junior champion last season. In Rally Liepāja, Gago will become the first Portuguese driver to ever contest an ERC Junior event – something he is very proud of.
