The 22 year-old Estonian driver has experience not only in Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian rallies, but has also taken part in three WRC rallies. Having begun his career in 2008 behind the wheel of a Subaru Impreza, Siim Plangi soon switched to Citroen C2R2 and Honda Civic Type R and competed in 2WD classes, where he managed to win the Estonian rally championship A7 class in 2011.
In 2012, Plangi switched back to all-wheel drive and began winning rallies – the Otepää Talveralli in the beginning of the season, and the UKU Mulgi Rally in the summer, which helped him on his way to a bronze medal in the Estonian rally championship.
For 2013, Plangi focused on quantity, contesting a total of 13 rallies in Latvia, Estonia and Russia. He had very mixed success, with podium finishes being followed by a string of retirements due to accidents or technical problems, which meant that he didn’t manage to reach the top 3 in any of the contested championships.
Last year, he continued racing in his Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, but was very inconsistent, which meant that he could not seriously contend for the Latvian and Estonian rally championship titles. In auto24 Rally Estonia, Plangi had an opportunity to race a Peugeot 208 T16 R5 car for the first time. While being 10th overall, he made a mistake on the very last stage, resulting in a crash and a DNF for the rally.
